It’s not a focus on the law! Rather it’s through our focus on God’s love that we are able to keep Torah.
The Ten Commandments came that the Jews would be exposed to their need for God’s love which had been gradually revealed to their slow understanding as a nation!
Of course there were always a remnant of every generation that would ‘get it’; There were those (the remnant) who would understand God’s forgiveness and love in a limited way, i.e. those who could understand (however still clouded) that it was not the animal sacrifices that covered their sins, but it was their heart, their faith, their trust in God’s Word through obedience in making animal sacrifices to God. This limited view was clouded through their still focus on the law perhaps! The real sacrifices would come through our repentance and change of heart through believing God’s Word that also does lead to obedience in the terms of God’s covenant! As we grow in Him we learn to become more responsible through the power of His love and forgiveness.
But through the coming of the commandments it was shown flesh & blood could not, and cannot, keep all of the law (Torah & 10 commandments) much less most of them all the time.
The Father’s Covenant of Love (Genesis 15:17) is the secret through the one who came to SEAL IT (Covenant) with HIS once & for all blood-sacrifice to satisfy ‘The Law of Sin and Death’ that we might become free through accepting that Sacrifice into our hearts with repentance.
HE did come, really, to show the way to God’s love and how to walk in HIS grace-wisdom.
Now, Jesus did not come to abolish the Torah nor its 10 commandments but rather to fulfill it all with His first coming. And that through Him the law (Torah and commandments) could be kept through HIS power of love that would be in them (that’s us); that is through HIS power and His Holy Inspiration (the Holy Spirit) it can happen for a surety!
